Friends of York Dog Park Celebrate Park Opening!
On June 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm the long-awaited opening of the York Dog Park took place. The Friends Board of Directors, volunteers, and eager dogs and their people met for opening remarks that included the history of the park development and the acknowledgment of the many founding donors comprised of individuals, businesses, and non-profit grants. The project began in January 2019 and saw the creation of a non-profit 501(c) 3 corporation and the search for a suitable location. With the support of the Board of Selectmen and the approval of York voters, The Friends were granted a long-term lease of town-owned land at 17 Bog Road. Several years ensued while raising non-tax-payer funding to prepare the site, install professional-grade fencing, and secure the necessary permits and insurances.
Today York Dog Park is open 7-days dawn to dusk. It is available to all responsible dog owners to enjoy as a safe enclosed park for exercise and friendly gatherings. Please honor the carry-in, carry-out waste policy(bag dispensers on site) and remember to bring drinking water for the dog bowls provided.
While the York Dog Park is now functional there are many additions and improvements The Friends would like to make. Please consider supporting the park by contributing on friendsofyorkdogpark.org and via our QR Code on our signs. Be sure to visit our current donor page to see who has stepped up to make this park a reality.
