Support the Friends of York Dog Park
Friends of the York Dog Park are seeking financial support from local small businesses, corporations and individuals to help maintain and improve the York, Maine Dog Park.
Dog parks are an important part of community life — they foster social connections, encourage outdoor activity, and serve a growing segment of the population who cherish their canine companions.
Non-Profit Status
The Friends of York Dog Park is a registered non-profit organization in the State of Maine.
Our group built and continues to maintain the dog park located at 17 Bog Road, on land owned by the Town of York. While the town generously allows the use of the land, all costs associated with upkeep and improvements are the sole responsibility of the Friends of York Dog Park.
Dog Park Standards
Our park design was inspired by the Ogunquit Dog Park and informed by research into successful facilities in other communities. Key features include:
-
A sturdy, weather-resistant fenced enclosure covering approximately one acre, plus a smaller 5,000 sq. ft. area for small or shy dogs.
-
Double-gated entry pens for safe and controlled access.
-
Clear signage, poop bag dispensers, and ample parking to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Our Future Wish List
We’re excited to continue improving the park! Future enhancements we hope to add include:
-
An on-site potable water source
-
A storage shed for maintenance supplies
-
Benches and picnic tables for owners
-
Fetch toys and other play features
